When I run my most expensive stuff, I also run the risk of losing more isk than I've made. Or should I also get more money for dying in shinier gear?
Also, think of the noobs. Once we get a real economy going, making more isk simply for having more (rather than contributing more) is going to make them even more disadvantaged.
PS when proto tanks come out and they're like 15m a pop and still die to proto-swarms and proper tactics, I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing the exact same kinds of threads. |

Aizen Intiki wrote:We only got STD vehicles, as you stated, so your first argument about using our most expensive stuff is invalid. We need more because our **** costs more, and noobs will always be disadvantaged, so your second argument is invalid. Comparing STD tanks to PRO suits is entirely valid I think. STD tanks with proto guns are expensive. Can you get a more expensive tank? OP iswas calling for increased payouts based on gear, in which case all that matters really is the cost, not whatever 'tier' we've shoehorned it into.
Paying a premium for increases in performance, and then being paid based on that performance (as measured by war points, winning, kills, etc) is how the system works. Weather the increase in price is worth the cost is a decision that must be made. If the answer is always "pay the most to get the best under every circumstance because the system is patched to always make it worth it in the end," is frankly pretty boring. However I do understand that having to downgrade because of cost alone is also frustrating, and having to do this too much is simply unfun. I am not deaf to the plight of tankers. I'm simply trying to make the point that including "cost of what you brought/lost" into the payout equation is a serious change that would need some serious justification.
Noobs being disadvantaged by default is not a valid reason to implement a "rich get richer quicker" scheme. Neither does opposing such a scheme on the basis of noob's disadvantage an invalid argument. If you get the same KDR and same WP as someone who used a less expensive fit (as a result of lower SP or lower ISK reserves), you should not get a higher payout.
Lastly, has CCP even confirmed that ADV and PRO tanks are happening at all?
OP has since made a more reasonable request of halving turret costs. On one hand, doing this would reduce the pain tankers feel. On the other hand, expensive turrets remain the primary distinguishing factor for SP and ISK when everyone is driving the same tank, so there is at least some justification for having these be expensive in the first place. One question I have is, if you downgraded from a proto gun to an advanced one, how much isk would that shave off the cost of your tank, and consequently how long it takes before you break even? Assuming of course, survivability and payouts are not effected by using a worse turret. |
